Our newest project is over by Spring Lake, in Milan, NY.  This little cottage is an example of an early panelized house (meaning that it was manufactured in sections that just had to be put together).  It is rumored that cottage was in fact a surplus Army barracks that was bought by its original owner and brought up to Spring Lake to be assembled.

The owners plan to take this cottage apart in order to construct a new house on top of the cottage's footprint.  But fear not, we are not destroying this unique cottage.  We are reversing the process that the cottage was assembled in and taking it apart in sections so that the owner can re-assemble the cottage on another part of the property.

After disassembling the old cottage, it was time to start building the new house.  We had to install a new foundation, using a relatively new design.  This system uses Styrofoam blocks that are braced together.  The concrete is then poured between the blocks, forming a solid concrete foundation, that is also insulated.

Once that was completed, it was time to start assembling the new house.  The new house, like the old cottage, is a panelized house.  Once the panels were delivered, they are assembled together and the exterior framing of the house is mostly complete.

We have more photos in our photo gallery.  There you can see the little cottage taken before we began taking it apart, the disassembling process, putting in the new foundation and assembling the panels of the new house.
